Anointed For Life Pt 3

by Pastor Kevin Vaughn

Since the anointing (the gift of God) is that not of our doing we need to die to self for it to control our lives. We are born again by grace through faith. Faith is the abandonment of our own position to that which we believe. Faith views the things of God as more real than what is revealed to our physical senses. Therefore the anointing that we have received is by grace through faith that not of ourselves. Jesus took this position of dying to self.

1 Corinthians 15:31

31[I assure you] by the pride which I have in you in [your fellowship and union with] Christ Jesus our Lord, that I die daily [I face death every day and die to self].

This position of dying to self is a place of separation from our own will to the will of the Lord. A disciple can be defined as a disciplined follower. For us to be a true disciplined follower we need to deny ourselves and put to death our own will for the will of God.

Luke 9:23

23 And He said to all, If any person wills to come after Me, let him deny himself [disown himself, forget, lose sight of himself and his own interests, refuse and give up himself] and take up his cross daily and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying also].

The Holy Spirit is vitally interested in every aspect of your life. He wants to be involved in everything. We need to ask him to be a daily minute by minute part of our existence we need to ask him to walk with us, and help us to fulfill the will of the father. The Holy Spirit does know everything and he is a gentleman. He will never force himself on anyone. There are seven things listed in the book of Romans chapter 8 that will occur in our life when we allow the Holy Spirit to be the dominate force in our life.

1. You will be liberated from sin.

Romans 8:1-2

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

KJV

You, like so many others may have struggled in an area of your life that you have not been able to overcome. The Bible says that you will not be liberated from the law of sin until you follow the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 5:16-18

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

In verse 18, it defines what walking in the Spirit is.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

KJV

Because the Holy Spirit is greater than he that is in the world, and He dwells within us, when we are led by the Spirit instead of the flesh, it overcomes the promptings that the flesh produces to usher us into sin. When we allow the Holy Spirit to be the dominating force in our life, our position of righteousness naturally comes forth.

2. The fruit of righteousness will function in your life naturally.

Romans 8:3-4

3 For God has done what the Law could not do, [its power] being weakened by the flesh [the entire nature of man without the Holy Spirit]. Sending His own Son in the guise of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, [God] condemned sin in the flesh [subdued, overcame, deprived it of its power over all who accept that sacrifice],

4 So that the righteous and just requirement of the Law might be fully met in us who live and move not in the ways of the flesh but in the ways of the Spirit [our lives governed not by the standards and according to the dictates of the flesh, but controlled by the Holy Spirit].

Jesus was made to be sin for us, that by the Holy Spirit, we may become everything that He is.

2 Corinthians 5:21

21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

When we learn to walk after the Holy Spirit we find our righteousness. Your struggles  to walk according to God's desires will end, and through abiding in the Holy Spirit it will be an easy flow.

We will continue this teaching next time.
