A HABITATION OF GOD

by Pastor Kevin Vaughn

When you receive Jesus as Lord you become a place where God can dwell. Before your spirit was not alive unto God. But through Christ you who were once dead are made alive. Life cannot dwell in a dead spirit. Life dwells in life. Being born again is the answer to Life. when you are born again you are born of the Holy Spirit and He comes to dwell in you to make you a house for God to dwell in.

Eph 2:19-22

19        Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20        And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

21        In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

22        In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

When Jesus walked the earth He entered into the temple and cast out all that was unclean. He said this is the house of prayer. We are now the temple and it is vital for us to get a revelation of that reality. Jesus paid the ultimate price for this privledge.

 1 Cor 3:16

16        Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

(KJV)

1 Cor 6:19-20

19        What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

20        For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

(KJV)

Just as Jesus protected the Temple, we need to do the same. Our spirit is now the Temple but our whole being spirit, soul, and body must be conformed and built up in this perfection. We are growing into this habitation by faith.

1 Pet 2:2-5

2          As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

3          If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.[or good]

4          To whom coming, as unto a living stone,  [keep on coming to Him as living stones]  disallowed indeed of men,  [rejected by men]  but chosen of God, and precious,  [but in Gods eyes chosen and valuable]

5          Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house,  [as being living stones keep on building yourselves up to this spiritual house]   an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

(KJV)

Our God will never leave us nor forsake us He dwells in us and His desires should consume us. The Holy Spirit entered in us to be a helper to the commandments of Go. The Love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost, and the commandment  is love.

I Jn 3:24

24        And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

(KJV)

I Jn 4:13

13        Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

(KJV)

The Holy Spirit is helping us to develop in being the temple. He is the master builder. But we need to have focus on the subject at hand. He is building a master structure to work through and we need to yield to His work in us.

Ps 127:1

1          Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

(KJV)

We submit to Him by faith and being the Temple of God is our salvation that we need to work out.

Phil 2:12-13

12        Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

13        For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

(KJV)

The temple in Jerusalem was very visable. We are the Temple of God now and we are growing in this reality so that everything that makes us the Temple should be seen in all the world.

Matt 5:13-16

13        Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14        Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15        Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16        Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

(KJV)
